Meta AI glasses
Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026
In short
- Fair Price works with Meta AI glasses through the Meta AI app and Meta's Wearables Device Access Toolkit. You start a price check by pressing the glasses' capture button twice, by saying “Hey Meta, start Fair Price”, or in the app.
- Fair Price uses the glasses' camera only when you start a check or while the glasses preview is open on your phone's screen. The glasses' capture light is on whenever the camera is in use.
- From your glasses, Fair Price receives the photo (or preview frames), which pair of glasses is connected, and your button presses. It never receives audio from the glasses' microphones.
- The photo goes to our server and to Google's Gemini AI to identify the item and its price, and is then discarded. It isn't stored on our servers. A smaller copy stays in History on your phone until you delete it.
- People in photos are ignored: no face recognition, and no identifying or describing anyone.
- Data from your glasses is used only to answer the checks you ask for. We never sell it, never use it for ads or ad measurement, and never use it to train AI.
- Disconnect Fair Price in the Meta AI app at any time, and delete your data in the app or by writing to support@bettelf.com.
Who we are
Fair Price is run by Maciej Bajko (“Fair Price”, “we”, “us”), an independent developer based in the United Arab Emirates, who is responsible for your personal data (the data controller). Contact us at support@bettelf.com.
This policy explains how the Fair Price app for iPhone works with Meta AI glasses, such as Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Ray-Ban Display. It adds to our general Privacy Policy, which covers the rest of the app; the parts the glasses rely on are summarized below so this page stands on its own. Fair Price is an independent app. It isn't made, sponsored or endorsed by Meta.
How Fair Price works with your glasses
- Connecting: Fair Price uses your glasses only if you tell it you have them. The Meta AI app then asks you to connect Fair Price, and separately to allow it to use the glasses' camera (“Allow once” or “Allow always”). You manage both in the Meta AI app.
- Starting a check:
- Say “Hey Meta, start Fair Price”. Meta AI opens Fair Price on your phone, even in your pocket, and Fair Price takes one photo.
- Press the capture button twice, where your version of Fair Price supports it. A double press starts a check; a single press and press-and-hold keep doing what they normally do on your glasses (a photo or a video for your own gallery), and Fair Price ignores them. Fair Price listens only to the capture button, not to the touchpad or other buttons.
- Tap the check button in the app while Glasses is chosen as the camera.
- Preview: while the Scan screen is open in front of you with Glasses chosen as the camera, the app shows what the glasses' camera sees, as video without sound, so you can aim. It stops when you leave that screen or the app goes to the background.
- The answer: spoken through the glasses' speakers, which play your phone's audio like headphones. On Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, where your version of Fair Price supports it, the answer is also shown in the lens, with buttons to hear the counteroffer phrase or close it.
- Some of these features (the capture button, full-resolution photos and the lens display) use parts of Meta's toolkit that Meta currently offers only in test versions, so they're available only in versions of Fair Price that include them.
What passes through Meta
- Your glasses connect to Fair Price on your phone through the Meta AI app and Meta's Wearables Device Access Toolkit, a software kit from Meta that's built into Fair Price. Photos and preview frames travel from your glasses to your phone over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, through that toolkit.
- “Hey Meta” voice commands are handled by Meta AI, under Meta's terms and privacy policy. Fair Price receives only the request to open; it never receives your voice.
- Meta's toolkit sends Meta technical information about how the connection works: identifiers of your glasses, their firmware version, Fair Price's name and version, session times, which permissions are granted, the camera stream's settings and duration, errors and performance measurements. It describes the camera stream, not what's in it. Meta's privacy policy applies to this information.
- Your use of the glasses and the Meta AI app is governed by Meta's own terms and privacy policy.
What Fair Price receives from your glasses
| What | When |
|---|---|
| A photo | One for each check you start |
| Preview frames (video, no sound) | Only while the preview is on your phone's screen |
| The voice command's request to open Fair Price | When you say “Hey Meta, start Fair Price” |
| Capture-button presses (press, double press, press and hold) | While the capture button is turned on in Fair Price |
| Your choices in the lens (Meta Ray-Ban Display) | When an answer is shown there |
| An identifier for each pair of glasses linked to Meta AI, whether it's connected, and whether the camera permission is granted | While Fair Price uses your glasses |
Fair Price doesn't receive audio from the glasses' microphones, your voice, touchpad gestures, your Meta account details or your location from the glasses.
What we do with it
- Photos: handled like any check photo. The app shrinks the photo (to at most 1024 pixels on the long side) and sends it over an encrypted connection, with your location rounded to about 1 km and the name of the place you're at, to our server in Belgium. Our server passes it to Google's Gemini AI, which identifies the item, reads any price shown and estimates what locals usually pay. Our server doesn't save the photo. Google processes it for us as our service provider under its Gemini API terms, and may keep requests for a limited time to detect abuse and meet legal obligations. A smaller copy (720 pixels) is saved with the answer in History, on your phone only.
- Preview frames: shown on your phone's screen and then discarded. They're never saved or uploaded. When a check takes its photo from the running preview, only that one photo is sent.
- Glasses identifiers and status: used on your phone to pick which glasses to use and to show the connection's status. They aren't sent to our server.
- Button presses, lens choices and voice requests: handled on your phone to start a check or say a phrase shown in the lens. Presses other than a double press are ignored.
- What Fair Price sends to your glasses: the spoken answer (made by your phone's built-in voice, on the device) and, on Meta Ray-Ban Display, the answer card: the item, the price range, the verdict and buttons.
We use data from your glasses only to provide the checks you ask for, to keep the connection working, and where the law requires it. We never sell it, never use it for advertising or ad measurement, never share it with our ad-measurement service or with RevenueCat, and never use it to train AI. We don't use it for surveillance or to profile anyone, and we don't try to re-identify anyone from it.
When the camera is on
- Fair Price uses the glasses' camera only after you start a check (by voice, with the capture button or in the app) or while the preview is on your phone's screen. It doesn't watch or record in the background.
- The camera stops right after each photo.
- The capture light on your glasses is on whenever the camera is in use, so people around you know. Fair Price never tries to hide, cover or bypass it, and the app reminds you about it during setup.
- If you start a check by voice or with the capture button while your phone is in your pocket, Fair Price takes that one photo and speaks the answer in the background.
- With the capture button turned on, Fair Price keeps a connection to your glasses while it's in the background so it can hear a press, but it doesn't use the camera until you press. If you stop the connection, Fair Price doesn't restart it on its own.
People around you
- Photos may show other people. Fair Price uses photos only to identify the item for sale and its price. Our AI is instructed to ignore people and never to describe or identify anyone.
- We don't use face recognition, voice recognition or any other way of identifying people by their features, and we don't analyze people in photos.
- Photos aren't stored on our servers. Google may keep a log of requests for a limited time, only to detect abuse. Your own copy stays in History on your phone until you delete it.
- Please aim at the item, not at people, and ask before photographing someone up close. Respect other people's privacy, local laws on photography and recording, and the rules of the place you're in (museums, temples, shops and markets often have their own). Don't use the camera in private places such as bathrooms or changing rooms, and stop if someone objects.
The rest of Fair Price
Glasses checks rely on the same parts of Fair Price as checks with the phone's camera. In brief (details in our Privacy Policy):
- Location: your exact position stays on your phone. A check sends your coordinates rounded to about 1 km, your country and currency, and the name and type of the place you're at, if the app found one. Places are looked up on your phone with Apple Maps.
- Account: anonymous by default, with a random ID our server uses to count free checks and look up a subscription. Signing in with Apple or Google is optional; we then keep your email address and name.
- Check records: our server keeps the kind of item, an area of about 5 km, the price range and the time for 90 days, without your account ID or the photo. “What did you pay?” reports are kept the same way for 180 days.
- Voice: “Say the price” uses your phone's microphone and Apple's speech recognition (on the device where supported) only while you're saying a price. We never receive the audio.
- Purchases and ad measurement: subscriptions go through the App Store and RevenueCat. When you subscribe, our ad-measurement service tells Meta about the purchase, as described in our Privacy Policy. This never includes anything from your glasses.
Who else receives data
- Google Cloud and Firebase run our server and database in Belgium (europe-west1) and our accounts (Firebase Authentication) in the United States.
- Google's Gemini API identifies the item and price in each photo. Google processes photos for us under its data processing terms, which limit its use to providing the service, in its data centers, including in the United States.
- Meta provides the Meta AI app, the glasses and the toolkit, and receives the technical information described above, under its own privacy policy.
- Apple provides location lookups (Apple Maps) and speech recognition on your iPhone, under its own privacy policy.
We share data from your glasses with no one else, except where the law requires it or you ask us to. Because we're based in the United Arab Emirates and our providers process data in the United States and elsewhere, your data may be handled outside your country. For people in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, transfers rely on adequacy decisions, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified, or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept |
|---|---|
| Photo from your glasses, on our server | Not stored; discarded once the answer is ready |
| Photo, at Google (Gemini API) | A log of requests, for a limited time, only to detect abuse |
| Photo and answer in History, on your phone | Until you delete them or the app |
| Preview frames | Not kept |
| Glasses identifiers, button presses, lens choices | Not stored by Fair Price |
| Check record (item, ~5 km area, price range; no photo, no account ID) | 90 days |
| Technical information Meta's toolkit collects | Under Meta's privacy policy |
Disconnecting and deleting your data
- Disconnect Fair Price from your glasses, or take back its camera permission, in the Meta AI app at any time. Meta explains how in How to disconnect apps from AI glasses.
- Delete glasses photos from History on your phone: delete a single check, or clear all of History.
- Delete your account in Settings › Account › Delete Account.
- Ask us to delete anything else at support@bettelf.com. We'll also have our service providers delete what they hold for us.
We delete data obtained from your glasses as soon as reasonably possible when you ask us to, when you delete your account, or when Meta asks us to, unless the law requires us to keep it. Check records carry no account ID or photo, so they can't be traced back to you.
Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
- Contract: processing photos, button presses and lens choices from your glasses to give you the answers you ask for.
- Consent: the glasses' camera permission, which you give in the Meta AI app, and your phone's Bluetooth, local network, location and microphone permissions. You can withdraw any of them at any time.
- Legitimate interests: keeping Fair Price secure and preventing abuse, and anonymous price statistics. For people who appear in a photo, our legitimate interest is identifying the item for sale; people are ignored and the photo isn't stored on our servers.
Security
Photos are sent over encrypted connections and aren't stored on our servers. Data we keep is encrypted at rest, and only our server functions can read or write our database; only the genuine Fair Price app can call them. Access to our systems is limited to us. If you find a security vulnerability, please report it to support@bettelf.com with “Security” in the subject. We'll look into it promptly.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct, delete or restrict it, to transfer it, or object to how we use it, at support@bettelf.com. We reply within one month. If you're in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can also complain to your data protection authority. More in our Privacy Policy.
Children
Fair Price isn't meant for children under 13, or under 16 where the law requires a parent's consent. We don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above. For significant changes we'll also tell you in the app.
